The all-volunteer Board of CHILD Foundation met to shape the future direction of the Foundation and the future of medicine in rural, remote communities.
The first step in the exercise was to develop a new vision which would help in developing a five-year strategy. Facilitated by Ms. Puja Rai, an expert volunteer, the Board members had passionate discussion about the future. While a vision statement is still being debated, the following elements are being clear:
- Holistic, culturally sensitive health care
- Leveraging modern communication technologies
- Sustainable
- Cost-effective model to provide quality healthcare to remote, rural communities
- Empowering communities
- Model of healthcare that can be scaled-up to provide services to billions of citizens on plant earth who live in rural areas
